Free Speech and Death

Yesterday when Gabby Gifford and several others were shot, and she was left severely injured, along with  others, and six people killed, we watched with shock and horror. Along with many others, I prayed, and still pray for all involved. We have since found that the person who did the shooting was probably deranged. It seems like there may be someone else involved, but they are sure, and don't know the motives.

I should be amazed at the audacity of the Democrats and the way they respect their fellow Congresswoman. Instead of encouraging people to keep the prayers up and trying to find out what the reasoning was behind the individuals involved, they are trying to shut down debate on any issue they disagree with!!

I came across this quote by Rep. Steney Hoyer "Far too many broadcasts now and so many outlets have the intent to inciting people to opposition, to anger, to thinking the other side is less than moral. I think that is a context in which somebody who is mentally unbalanced can somehow feel justified in taking this kind of action. I think we need all take cognizance of that and be aware that what we say can, in fact, have consequences," Hoyer said according to a CBS story.

I beg to differ with Mr. Hoyer!!!! Debate and discussion do not cause someone who is unbalanced to feel justified in taking this kind of action.!!!!! Someone who is mentally disturbed does not need to be justified, and nothing you or I do will have much impact on unrational people. What discourse and discussion do is give rational people an outlet,  and a release for their frustrations. If we do not have discourse and discussions, we are the losers. Mz. Gifford read the first Amendment to the Constitution the other day and she apparently believed in that, unlike you, Mr. Hoyer.
